Minutes of the Shipton Bellinger Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 4th October 2010 in the Fletcher Room, Village Centre at 7.00pm.

WELCOME. The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting.

DECLARATION OF INTERESTS.

Cllr Mrs Tetlow declared an interest in Footpath 5, Flooding and the Allotments.

Cllr Miss A Reynolds declared an interest in Footpath 5 and the Allotments

Cllr Mr T Bowden declared an interest in the Village Centre

Cllr Mr M Bladen declared an interest in Watery Lane/ Bulford Road.

VILLAGE CENTRE.

Cllr Mr D Davies reported that the Village Centre Management Committee met on the 22nd September.

* Two events are due to take place in the Village Centre - A Bead Jewellery workshop and a

Tapas and Entertainment evening.

* The Management Committee are looking at the cost of replacing the lights in the Fletcher

Room. The current 8 foot lighting tubes are difficult to get hold of and it is planned to

have double 5 foot lights.

* Installing a lowered ceiling and new lighting is also being looked at for the main hall.

* The Christmas Tree will be put up in the main hall on the 26th November.

Cllr Mr Davies reported that the scrub area between the play area and the hedge has been cleared and he hoped that the debris will be cleared as part of the Tidworth Clean Sweep event due to be held on the 6th October.

Cllr Mr D Davies reported that a tree planting ceremony is to be held on the 30th October in memory of Gordon Measurers.

Cllr Mr M Bladen reported that an event has been organised on the 20th October for the school children to visit the Village Centre. An interactive display of Play Equipment will be available and they will be encouraged to pick which equipment they would like.

PLANNING

There were no Planning Applications to discuss.

COUNCILLORS REPORTS

CLLR MRS S TURNER - Reported that she was no longer contactable by email.

CLLR MR S BLUFF - Spoke about Footpath 5. The Parish Council agreed to proceed with claiming ownership of the section of path discussed at the previous meeting. Claiming ownership of the continuation of Footpath 5 to the A338 will be looked into.

CLLR MRS R TETLOW - Asked if PC Williams has spoken to Mrs P Hughes about the Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator Role? The Parish Council did not know the answer. Cllr Bluff said he would contact PC Williams.

CLLR MR D DAVIES - Reported that he had written to Sir George Young about the issue of the Parish Councils being asked to contribute to purchasing a speed gun. Cllr Mr D Davies has received a reply from the Chief of Police via Sir George Young. Cllr Mr D Davies gave a brief resume of the letter.

The Chairman reported that the Parish Councillors had mixed feelings on this project and it now seems that the issue of purchasing a speed gun has now been dropped.
