The fire started in number 1 and quickly spread through the roof to number 3. As you can see, all that is left of the roof is that clustering around the brick fireplaces: even the wall timbers are badly sccorched and, in places, burnt away. Due to the strong wind that day, blowing approximately from the West (from number 1 to number 3) it explains why the fire spread so fast, within 20 minutes number 3 was not able to be re-entered, and why number 3 appears to have more damage than the others.
